Concrete Roofing Tile

June 30, 2011Posted by Jay

Concrete tiles are attractive, strong and economical. They are machine-made and provide a very clean and orderly appearance. Most of the higher quality concrete tiles have the same color all the way through the tile, which helps prevent the tile from fading over the years.  The tiles come in a large variety of styles, colors and blends.  Some of them do a very good job of looking like barrel tile at a fraction of the cost.

It is important to note that the tile does not provide the water protection; most tiles are porous, and water seeps through them.  The important part of the roof is the unseen part called the underlayment.  Tiles protect the underlayment from the sun and the underlayment protects your home from moisture.  Quality installs and great material for the underlayment is what separates the great contractors like JW Roofing, from the rest. At JW Roofing, we are proud of the work we do – the work you can see and the work you can’t.  That is why we post pictures of our work and our roof underlayment installs.

White Tile Saves on Cooling!

May 6, 2011Posted by Rebecca

Many Energy Star white tiles have solar reflectivity values over 60%. For every 5% of increased reflectivity, the average roof is cooled by 4 degrees Fahrenheit, which is over a 28-degree change from the lowest Energy Star roof tiles to the best. So for those who really care about energy efficiency like we do, a white roof is the way to go. Whichever roof tile you choose to install, we will make sure your roofs tiles are from a high quality manufacturer and are installed with pride.
